Forest Hill wines hail from the little known region of Mount Barker; the first cool-climate vineyard established in WA. Their old vines, planted in 1965, produce fruits of incredible concentration. The longer ripening season produces highly aromatic and polished wines with an incredible sense of finesse. Over 50 years laters, they’re still family owned and run.
What we love across the whole range of these wines is the expression of fruit, but they’re also of outstanding value and compare favourably to some of their Margaret River cousins.
Riesling 2020
A super-textural, aromatic dry Riesling, with an intense perfume of citrus and orchard blossoms. Minerality and acidity give the wine great drive and freshness.
Chardonnay 2017
A beautiful modern Chardonnay that blends fruit expression with oak and texture. It’s all about the grapefruit and nectarine, with nuts and spice on the finish. Often described as a “bang for bucks” by the DecanTeam.
Cabernet Sauvignon 2017
A wine of incredible poise – a core of dense black fruit – plums, blackcurrant, black olive – plays canvas to a tapestry of spice, with dark chocolate, lifted herbal notes and the quintessential leather and tobacco.
Shiraz 2018
Shiraz in all of its medium-bodied glory – blueberries and violets give way to a framework of inky tannins, but this wine is all about the spice – white pepper and licorice, which finish long and true.
