En garde! This week we drink… en français. We start in Loire with a classic Sancerre, then move to the Languedoc with a ‘bank approved’ Chardonnay. For the reds, we quaff in Auvergne and finally finish in Beaujolais paradise. Sante!
This week, we highlight four wines from our friendly Trans Tasman neighbours. Four classic drops from great Grand Kiwi producers. We start with an Organic Pinot Gris from Greystone, then flex our Chardonnay muscle with Nautilus. The first red is a jubey goodness from Te Mata and finally we finish with an impeccable Pinot Noir from Prophet’s Rock.
When life looks a bit dull, I often peruse the aisle of Decanters and look at the pretty labels (we have all done this). This week’s line-up will add some colour and groovy beats to both cellar and palate.
A line-up as random as Melbourne’s recent 28C days! For the whites: Start with the discovery of Gönc “Turbo Šmarnica Injection”, a Slovenian rebel then move back home to Beechworth and its historical Smith’s Vineyard. For the reds, revisit Beaujolais with Morgon’s icon producer Thévenet and finish with Rouleur’s rolling MCG…
From light to heavy, from the old World to the New; this week’s recommandations are all about contrast!
